''What's today's adventure, Dad ?'' Sanding and painting, Daisy. ''Oh, good. We'll supervise, otherwise you'll just make a mess.'' Gosh, thank you. ''No problemo, Dad. We'll be under your feet all day, watching.''
"What's today's adventure, Dad ? We're ready." To the Fitzroy Vet I'm afraid. Monty needs his monthly 'pentosan' injection and you both need worm tablets. Take care crossing the road here. "There's Sarah. Hi Sarah. Can we have a treat please ?" Settle down you two. Just wait there. Monty's had his jab and I have the worming tablets. That's all. Home again now kiddies. How are you feeling Monty ? "OK Dad. That needle always hurts, but the new vet Mindy was nice. She gave me a treat." Ah well, that jab keeps you moving.
It's Winter here in Melbourne. I don't wash the kiddies too much in Winter because it's so cold. But today is wash day for stinky Monty and Daisy.
Who's first in the tub ?! Monty, come here. "Noooooo. Dad, I'm very sad now." And very clean too !
Daisy stop hiding and come here. You're next ! Pooooh. You stink of possum poop. What have you been rolling in ?! There. Much better now. "Dad, I will get my revenge I swear !" Poor thing. Think of how much more I love you when you are clean. "It's almost worth it then Dad."
"We love our Dad." "We do everything with our Dad... and if that's hot buttered toast, we definitely do EVERYTHING with our Dad." Sigh, yes this is my toast, but I can make you two a piece too. "Yum, hot buttered toast. Thanks Dad." You're welcome, I'm sure. "Me too, I'm soooo hungry." Sure thing, Monty.
Daisy, sit still and I'll take a few pics for the readers. "Sure Dad. Make sure you capture my good side. Here." Lovely pose. "Dad ! That's your thumb !" Whoops, sorry. "Dad, you're ruining my photo shoot. Sigh, amateurs !"
Another day and another walk down our favorite alleys. This is Old Brick Wall Alley. It must have been a big, old warehouse once, with a back yard stable. Check out the wonderful, old, bluestone foundations. There's Monty in his Winter jammies. "Hello Dad. What are you waffling on about ?" I'm telling the readers about our alleys and this Old Brick Wall. "Are we done with this wall yet ?" Yes Monty. Let's keep going.
We are walking down our usual alleys. Oh no. Daisy has found something stinky to roll in. "It smells good, Dad ! Join in." Ick. No thank you. "Dad, you just don't understand." I understand you need a wash !
Monty and Daisy and I are walking down our usual alley.
Hello puss. "Harumph. Hello yourself." "Take those pesky dogs away please. Mind you, they're barking up the wrong tree." Yes I know. They're not real bright sometimes. Goodbye puss. "Harumph. Good riddance."
