Daisy-Mae, what's that on your face?
We're out for a walk in The Park.
Daisy-Mae ! What's that on your face. Come here - it's a leaf.
"I can't help it Dad. The wind blows them onto me and they stick in my fur."
You are such a grubby child !
"Yes but you still love me, don't you Dad ?!"
Of course I do.

Come outside and play.
You two, stop jumping on the couch and come outside and play.
"Who us? But we're inside dogs, Dad."
Si the DogBlogger.
"Who us? But we're inside dogs, Dad."
Well come outside and play. There's all sorts of fun things like dust and mud and beetles and fresh air and stuff.
"Sounds awful Dad. We'll take our chances inside thanks."

Enjoying the sun.
We're just finishing off our renovation. The poor kiddies have been shut inside for a fair bit of it.
Are you two enjoying the sun out there ?
"Yes Dad. There's lots of dust and debris to roll in."
Oh jolly good. That must mean it's bath day soon !
"Not funny Dad. Don't joke."

Wet feet
We are finishing off our home renovation.
Are you coming out to take a look Mr Darcy ?
"But it's been raining, Dad. I might get wet feet."
You big sook. Come out and check out the new courtyard.
"I don't know, Dad. It looks very muddy out there."

Trying to brush the mud out.
Mr Darcy took a face plant in the mud in The Park, so I'm trying to brush him clean.
Sorry boy, but you're full of knots as well. I'm going to have to cut out all this matted fur with the scissors.
"Go for it Dad. There's plenty more were that came from."
Maybe I'll just shave you naked then...
"Whoa Dad. Go easy on that idea. It is Winter you know."
Yes well. No shaving then. I'll just have to keep hacking at you with this steel comb.
"Ouch. Oooch. Owwww."
Well if you weren't so knotty... Look at all this, and I've barely started.
I guess I'll have to groom you more often then. *Sigh*

Face plant in the mud.
Mr Darcy ! Come here !
What have you done ? How did you manage to cover yourself in mud ?! I've only just washed you.
"Um, sorry Dad. I was playing with a big dog and tripped."
So I see. It looks like you've taken a face plant into the mud. Ick.
"Maybe I can lick it clean, Dad."
Somehow, I don't think so. I'll try to brush it out when we get home. And if that doesn't work then it's back in the tub for a wash. Again.
"Wash ? That's a little drastic for a little mud, isn't it Dad ?"
Ahhhh, no.

Are we gorgeous together ?
"Are we gorgeous together, Dad ?"
Yes, DaisyMae. Totally.
*sniffsniff* But you could do with wash. You smell like old possum, and your hair is full of mud and snot.
"But Dad, I thought you loved me for my inner being."
Sigh, yes, but I just love you more when you're clean.

Big rain last night. Muddy feet.
We had a big, big rain last night.
Now we're down at the park playing in the water garden.
"It's lovely and cool, Dad."
I'm sure it is Monty. Just look at all that mud to play in.
"Hmmm, I think I'll take a swim."
Take care now. You're not as young as you used to be.

"Ahhh. It's lovely in."
"Hello Dad. Are you coming in too ? It's very refreshing."
No. It's bad enough having you covered in mud.

Big rain last night.
We had a huge storm last night. There's heaps of water in the new Rain Garden at the park.
In you go, Monty.
"Um, in a minute. It looks a bit deep."
Nah, look at Daisy. It's only up to her fat tummy.
"Yes Dad, but that first step looks a bit deep."
Don't be a big sook. Jump in and cool your feet.
"I'm just being cautious. What if there's crocodiles or something ?!"
Suit yourself. Daisy's having a nice paddle anyway.

My feet feel cold and wet. Rushall Crescent Community Garden Fitzroy North
"Yay. A puddle. I think I'll have a paddle."
No! You'll get all muddy, Monty.
"Dad, my feet feel cold and wet."
That's because you're standing in a puddle, Monty.
*turns around* "Oh yes, a puddle. Yes."
"Dad, my feet feel cold and wet."
That's because you're still standing in that muddy puddle, you daft old dog.
"Hmm, oh yes, I seem to be standing in a puddle."
"Dad, my bum feels cold and wet."
Haha, you silly plonker. That's because you've just sat in that same puddle.
"Have I ? Oh, well that's probably why my bum feels all wet."
Si the DogBlogger

New water garden in The Park. Edinburgh Gardens Fitzroy
"Dad ! Dad ! Check out all this water !"
Wow, pretty nice, eh kiddies ? It's the council's new water garden.
"This is great. Lovely fresh water to play in."
Yes, it's very peaceful with that sound of running water.
"Phooo, it's gone up my nose."
Hahaha. Monty, you're all wet.
"Let's go exploring. Come on Dad."
Rightio. Let's see what else there is.
"Dad, there's no mud."
Gosh, how disappointing.

Finders keepers
Monty! Show me your nose. What have you been doing?
"Ah well, Daisy buried her biscuit in the back yard, and I know where she hid it, you see."
So you stole her biscuit did you?
"Finders keepers, Dad. The quick or the dead from starvation."
Is that how it is ?!

Rub with a towel after the rain.
We've just had a walk in The Park and got caught in the rain.
Now I have two wet stinky muddy dogs in my car, steaming up the windows.
Who wants a rub with the towel ?
"Yes please Dad."
"Me too Dad."

Daisy first. *rubrubrub*
"Thanks Dad. That's nice."
Monty next...

Better now ?
"Yes Dad."
"Yes thanks Dad. We might have a nap now."

OK, you two have a little sleep while I go shopping for our supper.
"Hurry back Dad."
Yes Daisy. You mind the car for me.

*zzzzzzzzz*
*zzz snort sniffle zzzzzz*

Gorgeous kiddies.

Lovely pile of dust. Edinburgh Gardens Fitzroy
We're out for a walk and it's started to rain.
Let's shelter under this tree, Daisy.
"Yes Dad, there's this lovely dust bowl here ! Yay."

Ick. Wet dog in a dust bowl. What a wonderful combination.
"Was that sarcasm, Dad ?"

Maybe.
"Don't you love me anymore Dad ?"

Yes of course, Daisy. You go ahead and roll in the dust if it makes you happy.

"Gosh, thanks Dad."
Hmm. No problemo.

Find it, then bury it.
Haha, Daisy, come here. What do you have stuck on your face ?!
"Dad. I can't see ! Help me."

What are you up too, my snotty faced girl ?
"I found a biscuit, Dad. So I had to bury it for later."

You found it, so you buried it again ?
"Yes Dad, of course."

Well I'm sure it makes sense to you.

"You just don't understand, Dad."
No, I'm sure I don't.

"Hello Dad."
Ick. Look at you. How did you get your whiskers so grotty ?!
"Natural snotty talent, I guess."
