Honestly Monty, I'm going to start calling you 'Puddles' from now on.
"Why Dad ?"

Because of this little lake by the back door... again !
"Whoops, sorry Dad."

And the one in the hall too.
"Um, I couldn't find my way outside."

Never mind my poor, old boy. I'll mop it up.
"Sorry Dad. I'll try to remember."

We're up in Big Square Park after the rain.

"Dad ! This is a good puddle."
Yes Daisy.

Dad, I'll splash all the way to the end ..."

Hot day, cool puddles

It's hot now in Melbourne, but we've had a huge amount of rain.
It's been raining everyday like a monsoon.

Daisy never misses a chance for a paddle.

"Yes, it's nice in, Dad."

Monty likes to cool his toes too.

"Mmm, lovely and cool."

End of the line, kiddies.

Righto, let's keep walking. There will be more puddles.

Puddles after the rain

Something witty about puddles, but I can't think what...
Anyway, these two will never pass up a chance to splash in a puddle.

Not my dogs.

We were out for a walk when we ran into this group of hounds.
There must be a broken pipe under there, creating this mud puddle.

Well these three were loving it.
Splashing. Rolling. Jumping.

I grabbed Monty and Daisy and put them on the leash and dragged them past this before they could jump in too !

This is so very typical of my little Daisy.... find a puddle and have a splash.
There's just something irresistible about puddles to small terriers.


This looks like it was taken just after I shaved her for summer. BAD hair.

Going for bagels. Part two.

We're out for a walk, going for bagels.
It's a hot day after a big storm.

Monty and Daisy have found a puddle to cool their hot feet.
Is that nice Mont ?
"Ahhh, it's lovely thanks."

Come on. Hurry up, I'm hungry.
"Sheesh, what's your rush ?!"

"Really Dad, there's no hurry and this is a lovely puddle."

Is that so ? How about the magic word ?! B.A.C.O.N.
"Did someone mention bacon ?"
"Me too some bacon too !"

Going for bagels. Part one.

We went out for bagels on a hot day after a big storm.

See that, that's all the detritus swept down the street by the storm last night.

"Phew Dad, it's hot."
Sure is, Daisy.

"Dad, I'm hot too."
Me too, Monty.

"Ah, a puddle. God's gift to dogs with hot feet."

Is that so Monty ?! Quite the philosopher today, aren't we.

Clean Monty. Dirty puddles.

Sigh, if it's not one thing, it's another.

I've just washed Monty because he has been rolling in the mud.
Then we go out for a walk after the rain and just look at him ! All clean and fuzzy, and straight into a puddle. Yuk.

Is that nice Monty ?
"Yes Dad. It's a hot day and the footpath is hot."

"Hey Dad, there's another puddle over there. Let's go look."
Sigh, OK. But you may be in for another B.A.T.H. when we get home.

It has just rained again, and we are out for a walk in the Edinburgh Gardens.
As usual, Daisy is straight into the puddles.

"Yes thanks Dad. I can cool my feet and have a drink too."

Monty enjoys puddles after the rain.

We have just had a few good days of rain.

There are puddles everywhere.

We went out for a walk on a hot day after the rain.

Monty was a bit thirsty and a bit hot, just as we found this puddle.
Does that feel good Monty ?

"Yes Dad. It's lovely and cool."

"I can enjoy the sun and cool my feet."

Righto. Well don't get too dirty or it's a wash for you.

Monty and Daisy find mice out in the rain.

We’ve just had a lovely bit of rain, so we went to play in the puddles.

“This is a nice big puddle Dad. I’m gonna have a paddle”

Daisy, get out of there. Ick.

Then we went down this alley and Daisy found a mouse.

“Monty, come here ! I smell mice.”

“Where ? “

“No, they’re around here !”

“They’re scampering all over the place. Over here !”

Let’s go home you two. Let’s go and dry off.

Puddles Edition Three.

We love puddles. Especially on hot days.



There is an underground watering system for the trees in the Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy.



There is a drought in Melbourne, so the trees get a bit of water to keep them alive.



It seeps up through the ground an makes these wonderful puddles.



Puddles, made just for us. Hooray.



It cools our toes.
