Daisy-Mae, what's that on your face?

We're out for a walk in The Park.

Daisy-Mae ! What's that on your face. Come here - it's a leaf.

"I can't help it Dad. The wind blows them onto me and they stick in my fur."
You are such a grubby child !
"Yes but you still love me, don't you Dad ?!"
Of course I do.

Did you miss your Dad ?

I've just come home from an early shift.

Hello Darcy. Did you miss your Dad today.
"Yes Dad. You've been gone for hours and hours."

"Poor boy. What did you do?
Slept on your bed all morning... Like this. Zzzzz."

Lovely boy.
"I suppose a walk is out of the question, Dad ?"

Not at all. Let me change my clothes and we'll go.

Why are you looking at me like that?

Hello you two. What do you want ?
"Ohhhhh, nothing Dad."

And you too Daisy-Mae, what's with that stare ?
"Ohhhh, nothing really Dad... But are you planning on sharing those chips ? Just asking..."

So that's what it is. You don't love me, you love my chip bowl eh ?

Victim of a tragic haircut.

It's going to be another hot Summer here in Melbourne.

I have dug out the dog clippers and given Daisy her first haircut.
I feel a bit bad that I have cut her fringe off too. Show me, Daisy ...

"Yes Dad. But at least I feel cooler."

Let me look side on. Hmmm, well at least it's growing back already.
"Yes Dad. But at least I can see now."

And the rest of you looks like a plague victim. Maybe a W.A.S.H. would help.
"Go easy there, Dad ! Anyway I like it now when you pat me. It's all nice and prickly."

Poor chicken. At least your mustache still looks fine.

Not talking to you.

Hello Mr Darcy, I'm home.

"I'm not talking to you, Dad."
Why not, Mr D ?

"Because you left me all alone and went to work and I was very sad."
Poor thing. Let's go for a walk and have a smooch and maybe have a snack too. Then you'll feel better.

"OK Dad. But maybe you can take me to work tomorrow? "
Maybe.

Hurry home, Dad.

Bye bye my beautiful boy. I'll see you later.
"Don't go, Dad. I'll be very sad."

Poor boy. You be good and mind the house.
"Take me with you, Dad, and we can play all day."

I wish that I could. It would be fun to take you to work. Bye bye Mr Darcy.

Mr Darcy's blue teddy.

Good morning Mr Darcy. Did you sleep well ? On my bed ?
"Oh yes Dad. I had my blue teddy, you see."

The blue teddy that Grandma found in the Opp Shop ?
"Yes Dad. It's my favorite toy now. If I close my eyes then teddy protects me. Then I don't have any bad dreams. See ?"

Very nice.
"Yes Dad. I love my blue teddy."

Haha. Jolly good. Well you look very cute with your blue teddy, that's for sure.

A bedtime story...

"Dad, we want a story."
A what ?

"We want a bedtime story, otherwise we can't sleep."
OK, this is new.

Well let's see then.
It starts like this ....
Once upon a time there was a kind Dad who rescued lots of poor, sad doggies from the Lost Dogs Home...

Si the Dogblogger

And the story ends like this, thanks to Jeannie.
... and they all lived fat and spoiled, on bits of bacon and pie, having daily walkies, rolls in the mud, sniffs of fantastic things, and lots of hydro washes. They slept with Mom and Sir Dad, ridiculously happily ever after. :)

That doggie in the window.

I'm off to work on an early shift.
I've kissed the doggies on the nose and said goodbye.

There's Mr Darcy in the window. He jumps up on a chair by the window.

"Goodbye Dad. Hurry home so we can play."
Bye-bye Mr D. See you tonight.

He's there again when I come home. Hello Mr D.
"Hooray. Dad's home. Let's play."

Just let me find my keys.
"Hurry. I need a smooch."

Coming... Coming... Where's my keys !

Thank you. A few favorites. Monty and Dad.

Thank you to those who have passed on condolences at Monty's passing.
We're all very sad.

Here's a few favorites of my beautiful boy.

To think that I will never play with his toes again, or check his eyes and his nose and his teeth.

No more snuffles and no more snugglebunnies.

No more walks. No more drives in the car.

No more adventures.
Very sad.

Thank you all, and our love to you and your furry friends.

It's in the contract.

What are you doing here, Daisy-Mae ?
"You said I could sneak up into your bed if I was clean, Dad."
Ahh, did I then ?
"Yes you did, and you gave me a wash yesterday so I'm all clean now."
Is that so ?
"Yes Dad, so I'm allowed in bed, it's in the contract. So there !"

Happy Australia Day.

It's Australia Day today. I had to work this morning but now I'm home with the kiddies.

Hello Monty.
"Hellooo Dad. It's a glorious day."

Indeed it is.
"How about an Australia Day smooch then, Dad ?"

Of course, my beautiful boy.

"Thanks Dad. Now I feel better."

Hellooo Daisy-Moo.

"Hello Dad. Can I have a smooch too ?"
Yes of course, but only because you've just been washed.

Mmmm, you still smell clean. Do try to stay that way for a day or two.
"Yes Dad."

Show me your teeth...

We do a lot of this ....
Monty, show me you eyes.
"Yes Dad." *snuffle snuffle*
I have to check for eye goop and that ingrowing eyelash.
Show me your teeth.
"Yes Dad." *snort snort*
Lovely teeth. Those bones keep your teeth nice.
Show me your ears.
"Yes Dad." *snuffle snort*
Nice clean ears.
You're such a good boy, Monty
"It's all attention Dad. I like it when you look after me."
Lovely boy.
