Doing my tax.

It's tax time, and that means a whole day of cleaning out the filing cabinet.

"Dad, we're bored. You've been sitting there for hours."
Poor kiddies, I'll take you for a walk soon.

"Dad, I'm bored. I'm hungry. I want to go out for a snack."
Yes, me too. Anyway, I've almost finished. We'll go and find a cafe.

The Bear Cafe, Brunswick Street, Fitzroy - no bacon.

We've stopped at this nice little vegan cafe called The Bear, on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.

"Dad, what's for breakfast ? Sausages ? Bacon ?"
No such luck, Daisy-Mae. This is a vegan cafe.

"You're joking, right ? No bacon for my breakfast ?"
Not joking.

*gulp* "But Dad, I shall starve then. I don't do vegan."
Poor Daisy-Mae, my fat little girl. No chance of you starving.

We're at Twilight Sounds, in Warringal Park. We've come to see a friend play in a band called Kid Sidney. Free plug coming up.

That's her on bass.

What do you think, kiddies?
"Not bad, Dad."

"It's a nice place too, Dad."

There's Julia and her mum.

"That's all very good Dad, but we'd like more of that sausage in a bun please."
Ah yes, OK. Can do. Me too.

A brief break from the renovations.

You two can sit out here for a while and get some sunshine.

"It's nice out today, Dad."
Yes, it's glorious. It's just so nice to step out from the dust and work.

Nice to see you brought Mr Ted out too, Mr Darcy.

"Oh yes Dad. I'd be lost without Mr Ted."

Breakfast with Mr Darcy. Clockwork Cafe for breakfast.

Mr Darcy is slowly settling in.

We're out for our morning walk and have stopped at Clockwork Cafe for some breakfast.
"Will there be bacon, Dad ?"
Yes Daisy-Mae. There will be bacon.

"Did someone say bacon ?"
Yes Mr Darcy.

"Lovely, but that pigeon will do too, if we can catch it..."

A passing dog walker seemed to think that Mr Darcy might be part West Highland Terrier.

I guess we'll never know.

Helping Dad fix the washing machine.

"Hello Dad. What are you doing ?"
Oh, hello Monty. I'm trying to fix our washing machine.
"Oh. Well I'd better help then. There's no telling what you might get up to without me."
Yes Monty. That's a grand idea.
"I'll just sit here and supervise then, shall I Dad ?"
Thank you Monty. That would be nice.

"Ahhh, this sun is lovely Dad."
Yeah, it's not bad at all.

"Mmm. It warms my old bones."
Yup. Mine too.

"Dad ?"
Yes Monty.

"I don't s'pose there's any chance of a head scratch, is there ?"
Yes of course, my beautiful boy.

Hello Monty. What a glorious day!
"Yes Dad. It's a lovely day to be out."
*yawns* "Now the sun's making me sleepy."
That's because you're a lazy lump.
*sniff* "Now the sun's making me sneeze. "
Well don't sneeze on me like you usually do.
*garumpfff* "Phew. That's better."

Supper ?

We're just talking a walk around the small block near the Queen's Parade shops.

"Dad. Wait for me."
Poor old Monty.

"Dad, my feet hurt."
Well I'm not going to carry you.

"Dad. Can you carry me please ?"
No way, you fat lump.

"Dad. I'm pooped."
Well rest for a minute then.

"Dad, I don't think I can walk any more."
Well you have to walk back to the car so we can go home for supper.

"Supper ? Gosh, I'm hungry. Let's get going. What's the hold up ?!"

Come on then, and I'll make you a hot dinner.

Comfy in the cool dirt.

We're around at the new house, fixing the back garden.

Monty has dug himself a nice, cool hole in my new garden.
"Yes, it's very comfy here Dad."

Jolly good.
As long as you're comfy in that big hole you've dug in my new garden.

"Oh yes. Very comfy thank you. Now run along, it's time for my nap."

Digging in the cool dirt.

It's another hot day around at the new house.
We're working in the back garden today.

I see you've found a cool spot there, Monty.

"Yes, Dad. I've dug a nice deep hole in your new garden."

"I've been digging too, Dad. It's good fun."
Oh jolly good, Daisy. Well as long as you're having fun then.

I guess I can fill in that hole later. Sigh.
