At Doodlebug. Sand in every orifice.

Hello again Readers. Here's a bit more of our adventure at Doodlebug Dog Friendly Accommodation Rye.

We're down on the front beach at Rye now (Victoria, Australia, that is).
"Mum, watch me paddle."
Yes Daisy. Don't go out to far.

"Mum ! Watch me run !"
Yes Mr Darcy. Just don't break the string... crazy dog.

"Mum. Watch me roll."
Oh yes, just lovely Daisy-Mae. Just what we need.

"Seriously, Mum. Look how good I am at it. Nobody can roll like me !"
Yes Daisy. It's quite amazing how you can get sand in every orifice.

"Mum. Watch me run ! This is the life."
"Mum. Watch me roll. There's nothing better."

Oh yes, yes indeed. Then just watch your Dad give you both a W.A.S.H.

A weekend at 'Doodlebug'.

Laura and I finally found time for a weekend away together with the kiddies.
We found this lovely, dog-friendly weekender down near Rye, called 'Doodlebug'.
Doodlebug Dog Friendly Accommodation Rye

We were greeted with a lovely house on a hill by the sea, champagne in the fridge, and a bed each for the kiddies.
"Look Mum ! Is that a treat for us in that box ?"
Hmm, it might be, Mr Darcy. Let me check. Yes, it's full of gourmet dog biscuits.

"Yum. Can we have one now ? It's been a long car ride and I'm hungry."
Yes of course, Mr Darcy. Here we go. One for Daisy...

 "Me too, Mum. Me too."
Yes, yes. Slow down. One for you too, Mr Darcy.

 Another on for Daisy...

And one more for you, Darcy. That's all for now. Let's go and explore.

Mr Darcy's first trip to Port Melbourne Beach.

It's another glorious Autumn day. Laura and I are both off work.
Beach ! Fish and chips !

Come on kiddies. Everybody on Mum's lap.
"Yay. The Beach."
"I say, this is very exciting."

Here we go, Mr Darcy. Port Melbourne Beach.
"Wow. What's all that ?"

"It's the sea, stupid."
Daisy, be nice.

"The sea, huh ? What do you do with it ?"

"Paddle your toes, is what you do with it. It's lovely and cool on the tummy too. Give him a push, Mum."
One push, coming up, Daisy. *nudge*

"Wow, this is nice. It's cool too. But...... it's all a bit scary for me."

"Silly mutt. You'll get used to it."
Daisy ! Just because you're old and wise.

Thank you to Wendy and Adam for helping him in those last few hours. Our gratitude to you knows no bounds. Bless you and thank you again.

Feeling better, thanks Dad.

Hello Monty. How are you going today ?
"Hello Dad. I'm feeling much better thank you."
You can thank your Mum, 'cos she's the one sticking needles in you at the moment.
"Thanks then to Mum. But a scratch would make me feel even better, Dad."
A scratch ? Can do.
"In fact, I feel good enough to try a roll."
"Ah yes. I'm feeling pretty good indeed."
Well that's a fine thing then.

Visiting Monty in hospital at Animal Accident Emergency

We're visiting Monty in hospital. Hello my poor boy.
"Hello Dad. Hello Mum."
So, diabetes eh ? How are you feeling now.
"OK I guess, Dad. I've had a good sleep and don't feel so woozy any more."
How are the staff ? The vets and the nurses ?
"Cute Dad ! I like Juliette, and Louise is lovely, and Doug talks to me."
You know I'm gonna have to inject you twice a day.
"Ouch. Really ?"
Yup. Anyway, let's do a little product placement. Hold still.
"Sigh, yes Dad."
Big thanks to all the staff at Animal Accident Emergency.

Salami for Mum

Come on kiddies, you Mum sent word that she wants salami and tomatoes on toast for supper.
''OK Dad. We'll come too.''
See kiddies ? Ham and salami.
''Mmmm. Smells good.''
''Mmmm, and Mum's a sucker. She'll give us a slice or two.''
You think Mum will give you a piece ??
"Always, Dad."

Daisy has some lumps removed. Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic

Sigh, if it's not one thing, it's another with these doggies.
I was playing with Daisy, and noticed a lump on her lip.
It grew quite a bit bigger over the next few days, so it was straight down to the Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic.

This is the end result, two lumps removed and a few stitches, and a bucket on the head.

Here she is recuperating with her Mum.

Poor thing, you have a sleep. Mum will protect you and soothe you.

Poor little girl.

Many thanks to Jess and all the girls at the Fitzroy Vet for looking after my little chicken.

Venezia

Ah, there's nothing quite like humiliating your dogs.
I was doing some dusting when I found this souvenir from Venice.
Hold still Daisy, while we try it on.

"Um, OK Dad."

"Mum, how do I look ?"
Just beautiful, Daisy Mae.

"Am I gorgeous Dad ?"
Yes, and you look funny too.

Daisy with scarf.

Don't ask, OK. Just don't ask.
I was at work when I received this in a text message.

Poor Daisy, what has your Mum done to you.
Sigh, I guess it's all attention, and Daisy loves attention.

Daisy waits for her Mum.

My wife went to the hairdresser and took Monty and Daisy along for the ride.
They had a coffee and a walk.
Then Monty and Daisy had a sleep in the car while they waited for their Mum.

Lovely Daisy.

Monty and his muddy nose.

I gave Monty a new bone. Obviously he wasn't hungry. He went and buried it.

Hang on, where did you just bury that ?
Hopefully not under that new plant that I just watered in ????
You did too, you sod.
Laura, you hold him up while I take a few more pictures.

Let me take a close-up. Hold still.

Now to give you a smack for digging up my new plant.
Then to wash your schnozz. Sigh.

Drying off after the rain part two.

We got caught in the rain on our walk.
Mum is drying us off. We love a rub with the towel.

"Thanks Mum. We feel better now."

Daisy has a roll in her bed to dry off some more.

"Hooray. Roll, roll, roll."

Monty jumps on his bed.
"Hooray. Roll, roll, roll. Rub, rub, rub."

Feel better now, you two ?
"Yes Mum."
"Yes thanks Mum."

Now the house smells of wet dogs. Ick.

Drying off after the rain.

We have just been for a walk, and got caught in the rain.
We love to come home and dry off.
Daisy first. Rub, rub, rub.

Then Monty. Rub, rub, rub.

"Thanks Mum. Me now."
Ok, Daisy's turn now.

Is that better Monty ?
"Yes Mum. More please."

Ok, more for Monty. Rub, rub, rub.

Better now ?
To be continued...
