April 8 is Mr Darcy's birthday.
We adopted him from the RSPCA on the Peninsula on this day in 2012. He's the luckiest dog on Earth.
Tonight you have a special roast chicken dinner for your birthday, Mr Darcy.
"Don't give it to him, Dad, roast chicken is my favorite."
Don't be a greedy pig Daisy. Anyway, this is Mr Darcy's special treat, not yours.
A little taste for you...
And a little taste for you, birthday boy...
"Yum, thanks Dad."
Here's your birthday dinner, Mr Darcy.
"But what about me, Dad ?!"
Ah, nothing for you Daisy, this is Mr Darcy's birthday dinner.
*in major panic mode* "Dad, be serious. What do you mean no roast chicken for me ?!"
Here's you dinner too. As if I would let you starve, my little fat girl.
Happy Birthday Mr Darcy. Are you enjoying that ?
"Oh yes thank you Dad. Just lovely."

Chicken for dinner. Call me Dad.
Mr Darcy has only been with us for two weeks, but he is very much at home now.
We rescued him from the RSPCA on the Peninsula.
"I say. What's that Sir ? It sure smells good."
It's roast chicken for our dinner, Mr Darcy. Maybe it's about time you called me Dad.

"Yes Sir Dad. It's an honor."
After all Mr Darcy, I do walk you and comb you.
"True, true."
We have slept together in the same bed. Speaking of which, I think I have one of your fleas.
"Ah. Can I have that one back. I knew I was missing one."
I feed you yummy dinners, and roast chicken, and tasty morsels of cheese.
"Mmmm. Yes you do. I feel that I am growing fatter day by day."
And I kiss your snout when I leave for work...
"Yes Sir Dad. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Sorry about the tongue up your nose this morning.
That's OK. It probably needed a clean anyway. Just 'Dad', OK ?
"Very good. I shall call you Dad from now on."

Taking the stitches out at Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic.
We're down at the Fitzroy Vet with Mr Darcy and Daisy.
Mr Darcy had just been neutered when we saved him from the RSPCA on the Peninsula.
This is your first visit here, boyo. Probably the first of many no doubt.
"Yes. It's very exciting."

Yes, silly thing. Anyway, it's time to take your stitches out.
Poor thing. No knackers now.

"Jolly good. It does itch, you know."

You're such a good boy. You're taking it very well.
"I say, there's lots of interesting creatures here, you know."

"Hey Dad, maybe they can put some brains in when they take those stitches out."
Daisy-Mae !

"Well he's a bit dopey, Dad."
Yeah, just a little bit, but he's young.

Grooming Mr Darcy
This is Mr Darcy. We adopted him from the RSPCA on the Peninsula yesterday.
Mr Darcy, your hair is a mess ! It's full of matted knots and dreadlocks. You need a good comb.
"Yes Sir. Sorry about that."

I'll need a pair of scissors to cut these knots out ! I'll need the strong steel comb too.
"Rightio. See what you can do then."

And a wash too !
"Ah. Now that could be an issue, Sir."

Introducing Mr Darcy. Clockwork Cafe for breakfast.
It's been a very traumatic few weeks, Dear Reader.
Poor old Monty passed away from old age and diabetes complications. He was a lovely boy and he had a good long life, certainly the best we could possibly give him.
Monty's passing has left a big hole in our lives, a hole that needed to be filled with fuzzy love and dog hair and empty bellies needing feeding and long walks in the park.
So. Meet Mr Darcy.
Here we are on the way back from being rescued.
We think he's part Shih Tzu and part Terrier.

We found him at the RSPCA Lost Dogs Home, under the name of 'Puddles', but we didn't like that name and it wasn't nearly noble enough. 'Mr Darcy' it will be from now on.

Daisy seems to be taking it well. I hope she'll like having a companion again.
It's been an emotional morning and a long drive and we're all hungry.
Let's stop for breakfast at Clockwork Cafe.
"Did someone say breakfast ?"

Some toast and egg, Mr Darcy ?
"Oooh, yes please."

Some more then ?
"Yes please. Very kind of you."

"I'm quite partial to a little hot buttered toast too, if you don't mind."

Well I can see you'll fit right in then, Mr Darcy.
"And a scratch on the noggin too please."

A scratch ? Can do.
Stay tuned for more of our adventures with Daisy-Mae and Mr Darcy.
It's a whole new chapter...

P.S. He's settling in well at home. He's had a big supper and his belly is full.
Daisy and Mr Darcy are snoozing, back to back on their bed. So far, so good.

Not Prudence. Maybe 'Puddles'.
Well now Dear Reader, we missed out on Prudence from the North Melbourne Lost Dogs Home. She was a lovely, sad faced Pug, but someone beat us to her.
This is Puddles who is down at the RSPCA shelter on the peninsula.
Laura and Mama went down this morning to check him out. They say that he looks like a lovely boy.
So, we'll all head down tomorrow and see how we go for an adoption.
Stay tuned...
