A smart jacket for Mr Darcy.

We took a day off from our renovations and went up the country to Heathcote.

We found a lovely new jacket for Mr Darcy. It's been very cold here in Melbourne.

You look very handsome, Mr D.
"Why thank you Dad. It's the latest thing, don't you know."

You look lovely in your jumper too, Daisy-Mae.
"And it's very snug too, Dad."

Lovely kiddies, all snug and warm now.

Doing Tax 2012

It's tax time again, and I'm cleaning up my filing box.

"Helloooo Dad. I've come to help you."
Hello Mr Darcy. That's very kind of you.

So, you're up to speed on Australian Tax Law 2012 then, are you ?

"Yes of course, Sir Dad. Old Bones is section elebenty-three and Tummy Scratches is section twiddely-two. All fully tax deductiblah."
Is that so ? Let me note that down for future reference.

Skitch

I've been having fun with a new Android app called "Skitch".

I can take a picture from my gallery and add text, arrows and squares or circles.
I can change the size and color of the text and arrows and circles. It's a simple little program, and quite fun.

So today, the captions speak for themselves. Here's a few favorites from the last month.

(Yes he did steal my pie !)

That's all for today. Bye.

Get the mouse !

All right. This is gonna be a long post. So sit back and relax and listen up.

Now, anything that moves or that can be thrown is 'The Mouse.'
Balls, sticks, bugs and even mice - it's always, 'quick, get the mouse, get the mouse !'.

This poor stuffed toy is an Australian Butcherbird with a squeezy thingy inside to make it sing.
Get the mouse Darcy ! Quick ! Quick !
"Throw it, Dad. Throw it !"

 *tarump tarump tarump*

"Here it is, Dad. Again ! Again !"

 *galump galump galump*

"Dad. Again !"
Ha ha. Sure. Quickkkkk. Get the mouse !

*kerthump kerthump kerthump*  "Got it !"

Daisy. You too. You chase the mouse too.
"Yes Dad."

Daisy ! Chase the mouse.
"Well Dad. It looks like hard work."

Lazy lump. You need some exercise.
"But Darcy is doing such a good job of it. Let him do it."

Lazy thing. OK, Mr Darcy, are you ready to do it again ?
"Ready Sir Dad."

One more time. I'll hide around the corner and throw it. Wait for it... wait for it...
"Now Dad. Now. Throw it now !"

One last time. Ready ?
"Ready !"

"Phew. I'm tired now."
Clever thing Mr Darcy.
"I'm tired too, Dad."
What from, Daisy ? All you did was watch.

"I offered encouragement, Dad. I'm the support team."
Ah. That'll be it then... Very tiring. You two have a sleep now.

Mr Darcy learning to WAIT.

I never taught Monty and Daisy any tricks.
About the only thing I ever taught them was WAIT at the traffic lights.

Now it's time to teach Mr Darcy.
*heavy hand on the rump plus firm command* WAIT.
Good boy. Now we look left...
"Yes Sir."

Good boy. Now we look right...
"Yes Sir."

Uh ! No ! WAIT. That's good. Don't move.
"Why ? What happens if I move ?"

What happens ?
Screeching tires. Skin, fur and teeth go flying. Rush to vet. Stitches. Painful injections. Bucket on head. Many visits to vet for more painful injections. Stitches out. Limping for weeks. Thin soup to eat, if you're lucky. Maybe missing a leg. Busted teeth. Dad and mum crying and very sad. Oh, and thousands of dollars in vet bills.... Seeings as how you asked.

"Ah...... Hum........ Maybe I'll just wait here then......"

Learning to use the dog door.

Well, it seems Mr Darcy isn't too dopey after all.
He's learnt to use the dog door very quickly. I think Daisy must have taught him.
You OK there Mr Darcy ?
"Oh yes. I've had a peepee and sniffed all the corners."
Good boy.

We have to 'wait' here.

We don't do much in the way of discipline, Monty and Daisy and I, but we do know WAIT !
What happens if we don't WAIT at Queens Parade, Daisy ?
''We get a tweak, Dad.'' *mumble mumble we don't like tweaks mumble mumble*

Clever Monty and Lines of Sight

Monty is a clever fellow.
He is also very aloof and likes his own space.
Here we are sitting outside The Pub.
If he knows that he's not about to get any food, he will sit away from me.

He is clever enough to always sit out of direct line of sight.
If he can't see me, then I can't see him.

Clever Monty.
